Dear readers, hope the weather in your part of the world is treating you well. In this part of the world, we are experiencing heavy rains, and turns out the excess of anything is not pleasant. I love the monsoon season, the sound of rain and petrichor but I hate the aftermath. Humans need to learn to treat nature better if we want to survive peacefully on this planet.
This mom of two has decided to come back to this seat and review a book (or two). The elder one is at school and the younger one is sleeping peacefully, it is the wee hours of the morning and I can hear whistles of the cooker. There are still a couple of hours to go before I start preparing for my office and this is one of my favorite things to do. Writing or reading are becoming my solace and I often myself feeling down if I don’t get time for these in my daily life. As Genz calls it “This gives me a dopamine hit” :).

My thoughts on the storyline and characters
It is a genre that I love to enjoy reading the most and would never get tired of reading – romance. Loving You Twice is the second book of the series. The protagonist, Ana Hasan, of the story, is a strong woman and comes from a house of three sisters. The three sisters, Tehzeeb, Ana, and Athiya, are brought up solemnly by their father Yusuf Hasan after their mother dies of cancer. She is the middle child who is focused on building her career. She looks after the family and takes after her mother when it comes to keeping the house clean and organized.
I loved reading about strong female characters who are determined to make their future better. They are not portrayed as a helpless princess who needs a hero to save them. The author takes us into the conservative world of south Indian Muslim families in Bengaluru. The small details of the house and the mannerisms of the characters are relatable to the readers. Although the plot isn’t unusual we can’t deny that a romance novel is meant to have cliches that are our guilty pleasures to read.
Ana keeps her feelings closely guarded and is good at pretending things are fine even when they are not. One fine day she finds herself seated next to Luqman Ahmed on a flight. Luqman is a good-looking guy with a lucrative job in the IT sector. He is from a rich family background.
After a couple of meetings, first during the wedding of her elder sister and then on a flight, the pretty and demure Ana has fallen in love with Luqman. A graduate in psychology, she is a counselor in a school. She loves Luqman but does not dare to disclose this to the world. Like a good romance movie, the story unfolds with a lot of drama, fights, love, and sacrifices.

Is it one of the best novels in the romance genre I have read this year? probably not but makes for a good read for your free weekend evening.
