Book Review: Mrs. Funnybones Author: Twinkle Khanna Genre: Non-fiction (Humor)
I enjoy reading Twinkle Khanna’s writing. Whether it is her book like Mrs.Funnybones or any article. One of my favorites among many is an article she wrote back in 2014 (I think) about hope and a red lipstick. A weird combination you think? Read it and you will agree with me…
About the book (Book review):
This book looks like a journal. The author has penned down her thoughts beautifully. She writes about different occurrences of her life with a sprinkle of humor in each situation. Some of the situations are so relatable that it makes you giggle. For me, the selling point is candidness of the writing. One of my favorite quotes from the book is
“Life is full of contradictions. We crave security and independence in equal measures.”
She speaks about her family members. The characteristic she portrays through her writing is so apt that you instantly start thinking about your own family member with similar traits. Apparently, she has the ability to bring humor in almost any situation. From Man of the house to the eccentric mother, from Parsi electrician to two fairly strange children, this book is hell bent to hook you up and give you a smile throughout. It is full of interesting anecdotes and speckled with self-deprecating humor and witty innuendos.
This book serves a right amount of humor with the use of expressions like “Blimey” at the end of an episode or calling her son prodigal throughout her novel. Not to mention the sketches on the books should be given due credits too. The only hitch I could find was that it is too short; I finished reading it in a couple of hours.
My Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to anyone looking forward to reading a light-hearted novel on any weekend evening with a cup of tea. If you are still not sure of buying this book then visit amazon.com and have a glimpse of the content of the book (Look inside option). To be honest, Twinkle Khanna, former actress born into a superstar family and married to a superstar husband; Indians love to peek inside celebrity lives.
There are funny chapters on how she handles being a mother of two kids, a wife of a superstar and an entrepreneur, with some heartwarming moments strewn occasionally. It is a quick, witty read that humanizes celebrity Life.

I absolutely loved Mrs. Funnybones too! I love her very tongue-in-cheek style of humour and the way she makes even the day-to-day interesting.
You should read ‘The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad’ now. While ‘Mrs. Funnybones’ is almost like her journal, this has short stories written by her.
Thank you. I have bought “The Legends of Lakshmi Prasad”, will be reading it soon 😀
