A day in my mom’s life… #writingbravely #writetribe

Morning:

My day starts at 4:30 in the morning. It is in my habit now as I use to wake up at this hour when my kids were in school. I make a green tea for myself and black tea for my husband. I have 4 kids and they all are through with their school life. My mornings are not that busy anymore. I get time for myself. Me and my husband we both find this morning time peaceful.

I am a devotee of Radhasoami so on weekends I go for prayers in the morning. My husband takes charge of the kitchen on those days. He is a good cook. I absolutely relish the break I get from cooking.

Afternoon:

I enjoy watching daily soaps and at times feel that they are part of my daily life ritual. I like to watch serials that have women lead characters. I never use to watch these when my kids were here as I never really had time. Now that they all are settled in other cities I get ample of time to spend as I want to (YAY! to that J ).

Evening:

In the evening I go for a walk with a phone in hand as I know my kids will call. They call me without a miss and if they don’t panic. I know I shouldn’t but there is something that keeps bugging me and I feel calm once I listen to their voices.

My day is never complete till I speak to all four of them. At times when they forget to call, I feel restless and assume the worst. I am getting old and my husband says I get paranoid too easily. On one hand, I am really happy that I get time for myself and can go anywhere I wish to while on the other hand, I miss the time when my kids were little.

Note (From the writer): I asked my mom to narrate her day to me as I want to write about it. She looked at my screaming toddler (she wasn’t able to take the bottle’s cap off) and said: “No wonder you want to write about my day, I am having a better day than you (and started giggling)”…

I am taking part in The Write Tribe Festival of Words #6.

  1. When I started reading this post, I was like – she gets up at 4.30 in the morning.. but gradually as I moved through the post I got to know about the real mom of the story. Lovely post. 🙂

  2. Wow… your mom gets up at 430 every morning! I really feel that gen of mothers were very tough! It’s so funny what she says in the end… Full points to her sense of humour! 🙂

  3. Fun to read 🙂 I was wondering how can you get up at 4.30 in the morning. But then saw its your mom’s day in the post 🙂

  4. This is such a light read, i was smiling all the way through this post, my mom is also devotee of Radhasoami and now that she’s retired, she’s having her life’s gala time. But I am her only child, so I keep bothering her now and then. And I can totally understand the evening call time part, my mom would literally shout at me if I missed calling her someday. 😀

  5. Wow!! Even if it was already years ago wherein your mom’s kids went to school, she’s still used to waking up as early as 4:30 in the morning. And it also sounds like your mom didn’t lose her sense of humor. Hihi.

  6. hehe hehe I loved reading your posts Kavita. Moms are super human beings and only they can wake up at 4:30 am for their kids. Proud to know that your father helps your mum in the kitchen and gives her the necessary break.

  7. My baby is only 18 months old but I am already waiting for that day when I can have a calm retired life…haha! Its so lovely that you chose to showcase your mom’s life. And the way you have described her emotions when she doesn’t get a call from you..spot on! Typical moms
