Few Tips On How To Soothe A Crying Baby

Being a new mom and a first-time parent I can understand how overwhelming it can be at times to take care of your newborn. There may be times of the day when your baby tends to cry a lot and cannot be comforted. For us, early evening was the most difficult time of the day. This can be hard for you, as it is often the time when you are most tired and least able to cope. A warm hug mama, I know what you are going through.

The initial months of delivery are a bit difficult to go through because a mom needs rest as much as the little one needs care. After going through a similar phase I have penned a few tricks and tips. I have tried these and it has worked quite well for us, I hope these help you too:

Feed, Burp, and Change

These are the basic rules and I am sure most of us are aware of them. A few common reasons among many are hunger, gas, and a diaper change. My little one used to cry the loudest if her diaper was wet. We made sure that we always moisturized her skin before putting on the diaper and made sure to check the diapers often. After feeding your baby, try stroking the baby’s back firmly and rhythmically, holding them against you, or lying face downwards on your lap.

Colic relief

All babies cry. It’s the only way for them to communicate their needs at this tender age. However, for babies with colic, the crying starts suddenly for no apparent reason. Colic is not a disease or diagnosis but a combination of inexplicable behaviors. Look for these signs and speak to your pediatrician about this. The crying lasts at least three hours at a stretch and occurs at least three days a week. Crying persists for at least three weeks in a row. In the need of a baby’s colic problem, Mother Sparsh has developed a 100% ayurvedic Tummy RollOn which is made up of a combination of different natural oils such as hing oil and saunf oil to treat colic and indigestion in babies. The combination of 5 Oils provides relief from stomach discomforts caused due to gas, acidity, and indigestion in infants and children. I have used it on my little one and it is very easy to use, applied directly on the stomach around the naval area. It has Hing in it and as per our ancient Ayurveda, Asafoetida helps to treat abdominal colic, gas, flatulence, and indigestion. It’s a combination of 5 oils that helps in giving relief from abdominal pain, constipation, and upset stomach.

Go out for a walk or play some gentle music

Just like us, babies often need a change of place too. Put your little one in a pram and go out for a walk or drive. Lots of babies love to sleep in a moving car. Mine usually woke up once the car stopped but I was happy to catch a break at least for those few minutes when she slept. My little one used to fall asleep in the noise of a vacuum cleaner, we found it absurd. However, after a bit of internet research, I realized it is quite common for babies to fall asleep with some gentle noise in the background.

Be calm (I know it is easier said than done)I cried so much during the first three months of delivery, not just because of hormonal changes but also with the guilt that I was not able to soothe my little one. Give it a break mama, parenting is challenging, and especially for a first-time parent it is too overwhelming. Take your time and know that you are doing the best for your baby.
