List of Binge worthy K-dramas on Netflix you can’t miss

Dear readers, I started writing this in the month of love, and then life happened. I am grateful for the blogchatter to break this curse of “not able to find time or mental strength” to write. The laptop, cozy corner, and zeal to write, all of this is coming together slowly and hopefully this whole month of writing will help me find the momentum.

Today, I have brought a list of K-dramas to binge-watch with a hot cup of cocoa and unrealistic expectations. I know this isn’t the best way to start a blog, but everything is fair when it comes to being biased with our choices, K-Drama, in this scenario.

Did you know that Korean dramas can make you feel better on the days you just don’t want to talk to anyone?

“These dramas offer an engaging escape from reality while promoting empathy, self-reflection, and personal growth. Despite the potential for unrealistic expectations, the overall influence of Korean dramas on viewers’ perceptions, emotions, and daily lives appears to be positive and significant.” SOURCE

Here is the list of dramas that I have binge-watched a dozen times already:

Something In the Rain

This was one of the first dramas that I started with, and I fell into the loop of K-dramas for life. Yun Jin A, a woman in her mid-30s, has never experienced a successful relationship. After being dumped countless times for her clumsy and reckless behavior, she is heartbroken. Then, Seo Jun Hui, her childhood friend’s younger brother, reappears. Now an attractive and confident man, he surprises Jin A, and she begins to feel that this time, she may finally find love.

The director has skillfully brought out the complexities of what may look like a simple love story between an older woman and a younger man. The narrative is seasoned and mature, which gives it a fresh appeal. Binge-worthy would be the right word for this one.

When the weather is fine

Hae Won was tired of life in Seoul, tired of the noise, the expectations, the endless rush that left no room to breathe. A cellist, she had once found solace in music, but after too many emotional wounds, she had closed her heart like an old, dusty case. So, she left it all behind and returned to Bookhyun Village, the place where she thought she’d find peace.

But peace wasn’t waiting for her.

That’s when she met Eun Seob, the owner of “Goodnight Bookstore.” His life was simple, almost too simple: coffee, reading, blogging. A quiet routine untouched by the chaos she had fled. Yet somehow, as their lives intertwined, everything shifted.

When the weather is fine

And for the first time in a long while, Hae Won wondered if maybe, just maybe, she wasn’t as closed off as she thought. It is a heartwarming web series that effortlessly weaves together elements of romance, healing, and self-discovery, leaving us with a sense of contentment and nostalgia. With its beautifully crafted storyline and endearing characters, this series is truly a breath of fresh air in the world of web entertainment.

Uncontrollably Fond

Get our tissues ready to bawl your eyes out with this beautiful story. The ache in your heart will be felt for many days to come, the characters, the storyline and the actors, everything in this drama screams perfection.

K drama

Former teenage sweethearts separated by uncontrollable circumstances, Sin Joon Young (Kim Woo Bin) and No Eul (Suzy) are reunited as adults when the latter is commissioned to make a documentary about Joon Young. He is now a superstar actor and singer who’s dead-set against filming his documentary and gives No Eul a miserable time. Gradually, he relents to the documentary and uses the time to try and win her heart back.

Because this is my First Life

This drama will always be close to my heart. The complex subject of marriage is neatly unfolded and constructed beautifully. A house-poor man and a homeless woman become housemates in a drama that examines the institution of marriage and the problems that young people face today.

Nam Sae Hee (Lee Min Ki), a socially awkward IT worker, is financially strained after buying a house. Yoon Ji Ho (Jung So Min), a struggling writer, becomes his tenant after losing her home. As they face personal and financial challenges, their unexpected living arrangement leads to a unique bond, exploring love, survival, and growth amid tough times.

Mr. Plankton

This one is the newest drama on my list that I had binge watched. I loved watching Tempted a few years ago, and since then, I have been a fan of Woo Do-hwan. He plays a lead role in this one, too. Although I didn’t find this one to be too engrossing but I watched it all for the lead actor.

Hae Jo, ostracized due to his unknown parentage, sets out to find his real father after life-changing news. Jo Jae Mi, longing for a family, joins him despite being engaged to Eo Heung, heir to the Eo family’s food company. Pressured to marry by a false pregnancy claim, Jae Mi vanishes with Hae Jo on her wedding day, just before the ceremony.

Mr.Plankton

The effort put into selecting and directing the cast truly shines through, as everyone contributes to making this drama an unforgettable experience. This type of romcom truly pulls you in. While watching this series, I found myself wondering what on earth the main character had done to deserve such a difficult life. Well, watch it and find it yourself 🙂

I will be back with more recommendations, till then, enjoy these and do not forget to let me know your favorite one too. Anyong!
