Dear reader, are you an atheist or a believer? For almost eighteen years of my life, I wasn’t even aware of the term atheist, and then for almost a decade I read all about it. However, there was a paradigm shift in my belief system after two tiny lives started to depend on me for their existence.
Life always has an interesting way of introducing us to the stress, emotions, and understanding of peace amidst the chaotic daily hustle. Do you know why we feel at peace where nature is at its full glory, like mountains? The solitude, space, and stillness that one feels amidst nature is beyond words can ever explain. Is it possible to feel this solitude or peace within ourselves? The answer is yes. It is our mind that needs to learn calmness and mindfulness.
I was introduced to meditation in the last couple of years. There was an instant connection to those few minutes of meditation in the morning and the calmness I felt during the day. However, I was always keen on learning in-depth about chakras, meditation, and all. Recently, I finished reading a book and it gave answers to all the questions I was looking for.
Introduction of the Author:
Kamlesh D Patel is an Indian spiritual leader and affectionately known as “Daaji” among his followers. Born in 1956, he is the fourth spiritual Guide in the Sahaj Marg system of raja Yoga meditation.
From his young days, he has been interested in spirituality and met his Guide, Shri Ram Chandra of Shahjahanpur (Babuji), the founder and first President of Shri Ram Chandra Mission. Kamlesh continued to follow Parthasarathi Rajagopalachari (Chariji), the second President of the Shri Ram Chandra Mission, after Babuji’s passing away. He is now the President of the Shri Ram Chandra Mission, teaching Heartfulness Meditation. (Source)
What I Love about this book:
“The review of this book is going to be a bit different from the other reviews. As this one doesn’t need any ratings, the book will surely attract the right readers seeking answers. The evolution of the soul and how it leads to a journey of life is explained well. Although reading the whole book was an experience in itself, I thoroughly enjoyed reading the bits on “Ask Daaji” where the answers are in-depth explanations with examples too. The book speaks about 13 chakras in-depth and focuses on the importance of each of these.
On page 53 there is a question that many of us would relate to “I have a constant chatter of thoughts going on in my mind. I want to meditate, but I am not sure I can. What do you advise?”
Along with a detailed answer he shared a few tips to calm the mind. For example:
- Try doing some breathing exercises before you begin your meditation.
- If there are many thoughts during meditation, try to pause breathing for a few seconds and then continue the meditation.
- If thoughts persist, gently open your eyes. Stay seated and take a few deep breaths. Then close your eyes again.
Here are a few of the lines from the book that resonated with me on many levels:
Chapter 19, The mind region: A journey to Humility:
“A humble heart is like fertile soil, where inspirations bloom and without resistance. To ensure the ego stays in the humble state, interiorize in the heart and melt away in its love. When we open ourselves to love, it creates a beautiful world within our hearts, where we are filled with a sense of lightness and joy.”
Chapter 16, The fourth Chkara: Courage:
It takes courage to act on the inspiration of the heart. The courage to overcome temptations, overcome lethargy, and do what is right. Listening to the heart and following its guidance takes courage, and it’s not restricted to grand deeds alone.
I really hope reading this book will help you understand all about chakras and your search for the right meditation techniques will end too. If you too are curious to know yourself better and find that anchor within you in this chaos then do give this book a read and thank me later!
